FAQ
1. What is the flame-retardant mechanism of MV armored cables?
These cables use XLPE insulation with halogen-free compounds and steel/aluminum armor to limit flame spread, complying with IEC 60332-3-24 Class B for vertical flame resistance
2. Can 26/35kV armored cables be directly buried underground?
Yes, but require sand bedding and moisture-proofing due to steel tape armor (YJLHV22 type). Avoid sharp stones during installation to prevent sheath damage
3. What’s the temperature tolerance of XLPE-insulated MV cables?
- Continuous operation: 90°C
- Short-circuit (5 sec): 250°C
- Installation limit: -20°C (preheating needed below 0°C)
4. Why choose aluminum alloy armor (YJLHV62) over steel?
- Weight reduction: 40% lighter than steel tape
- Corrosion resistance: Ideal for coastal/chemical plant
5. Are these cables suitable for mining applications?
Yes, but require enhanced mechanical protection (e.g., double steel tape) and MSHA/IEC 62258 certification
6. How does flame-retardant PVC compare to LSZH sheaths?
- PVC: Cost-effective, moderate smoke suppression
- LSZH: Lower toxicity in fires, mandatory in tunnels/hospitals
7. What tests verify cable quality?
- Partial discharge: ≤10pC at 1.5U0 (IEC 60885)
- Insulation resistance: ≥3,670 MΩ·km (20°C)
8. Can 6kV cables be used in 10kV systems?
No. Voltage rating must match system voltage (e.g., 8.7/10kV cables for 10kV networks)
