Installation Guidelines

Preparation

  1. Inspect the cable for any damage to the PVC sheath before installation

  2. Store cables on clean, dry reels, protected from direct sunlight and moisture

  3. Preheat the cable if ambient temperature is below 0°C – cold cable can crack the PVC sheath

Pulling Tension

  • Maximum pulling tension (copper conductor): Approximately 50 × conductor cross-section (mm²) in Newtons

  • Use proper pulling grips (basket weave) – never pull by the insulation

Conduit Fill

  • Maximum recommended fill: 40% of conduit cross-sectional area for 3+ conductors

  • Use pulling lubricant for long runs

Termination

  • Strip back PVC sheath and insulation carefully – do not nick the copper conductor

  • Use properly sized copper lugs and terminals

  • Apply appropriate torque for termination screws

Testing After Installation

  • Perform insulation resistance test (minimum 100 MΩ)

  • Conduct continuity test on all conductors

  • High voltage test (3kV AC or 3.5kV DC for 15 minutes per IEC 60502-1)
