A bare conductor refers to a metal conductive wire without any insulation layer or outer sheath. It is usually made of copper, aluminum, steel, or other alloys. Because of its excellent heat dissipation, light weight, and low cost, it is widely used in high-voltage overhead transmission lines, substation busbars, and electrified railway systems.
As a fundamental material in power engineering, it is often regarded as the “backbone artery” of power systems.
